Who is Mr LabraX?
Hello, my name is Kuba Stan. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to connect with you. As an enthusiastic angler and a biologist with a professional focus on polymer chemistry, I have been fortunate to explore both of my passions. Throughout the years, I have immersed myself in the art of lure and fly fishing, honing my skills and gaining invaluable experience.
What sets me apart is my ability to merge my knowledge of biology, hydrology, aquatic ecosystems, and polymer manufacturing with my love for fishing. This unique combination has allowed me to develop a distinct set of skills, enabling me to craft exceptional lures using a wide range of resins and additives.
My journey began by creating bespoke soft plastic lures under the name Pirate Lures. However, my passion and expertise have led me to expand into crafting hard lures, which I now produce under the name Mr LabraX. The process of designing and creating these one-of-a-kind lures fills me with a deep sense of pride.
Now, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share my creations with fellow fishing enthusiasts like you. It brings me great joy to know that my lures may enhance your fishing experience and contribute to your enjoyment of this wonderful hobby.
How are your lures made? What materials do you use?
My lures are crafted with utmost care and attention, using a variety of high-quality polymers such as epoxy and polyurethane resins, along with carefully selected additives. What sets my lures apart is that each lure is meticulously handmade, including the through wire that is manually looped on both ends. I even produce my own weights, which grants me exceptional control over the lures’ action in the water.
To achieve this level of precision, Mr LabraX employs custom-designed molds that are meticulously machined using state-of-the-art CNC technology. Every step of the process is carefully executed to ensure the highest level of accuracy and quality.
But it doesn’t stop there. My commitment to excellence extends to the aesthetics as well. Each and every one of my lures is painstakingly hand-painted, and multiple layers of super strong and durable resins are applied to provide unparalleled robustness. I understand that your specific needs are important, and my colors and coatings are designed to adhere to them flawlessly.
I take great pride in my craftsmanship and strive to create lures that not only perform exceptionally but also exceed your expectations in terms of quality and durability.
Where do you fish and where are you based?
I used to reside in Ireland, where my saltwater journey began. It was there that my fascination with the Sea Bass took root, making it a vital target species for both my lures and personal hunting endeavors. Fishing for bluefish and false albacore brings me immense joy, which played a significant role in my decision to relocate to the captivating Strait of Gibraltar. Additionally, my passion for pursuing tuna has become a captivating pursuit, for which I feel incredibly fortunate to have had a few exceptional mentors to guide me through this demanding sport.
The rigorous testing of my lures is graciously undertaken by a small group of my friends and kind-hearted individuals who assist me in refining and evaluating their design. This invaluable collaboration allows me to gather insights and feedback from diverse locations and a wide range of saltwater species.
